He is a toad, and looks as bear paw said every bit of 300-400 lbs. I have seen quite a few in the size range, and he fits the mold

Not trying to stir the pot even more. But did you guide and scale a bunch of bears? I’m just curious what has allowed you to see “quite a few once in a lifetime sized bears.”

I have guided hundreds of bear and we used to scale most of the bigger ones. I've seen about a half dozen bear weigh from 400 to 456 pounds on a scale and one that we had to piece out that I estimated at 550. He was the largest we ever got and I'm convinced he only got that big because he was eating bait every night back when baiting was legal. That bear is #7 in SCI handgun and is lifesize mounted on a modified large grizzly form because no black bear forms were large enough. Since baiting was outlawed the bear quit getting as big! It's unusual to find a bear over 350 nowadays in NE WA. But the key point in this whole discussion is that this is a fat bear that has been eating lots of bait and he probably ate fish too considering the location, that all makes bear bigger. Looking at the broadness and bulk of the bear I knew it was a safe bet to say he was over 300 and I completely believe the OP that it's a 400 pounder. The photos were not taken in a way that makes the bear look bigger, if anything the photos made the bear look smaller.

I suppose if you've never seen a 400 pound bear on a scale it's hard to believe. Just think, in places like North Carolina, Pennsyvania, and Michigan they are killing bear regularly that weigh 500 to 700 pounds!

Let me add this again:
The photo standing on the barrel is the clincher, I think that's a 55 gal barrel, red meat weighs about 8 lbs per gallon! Do the math!

I am disgusted so many know everything bear experts could post like they have.  To not take the word of a seemingly honorable man is bad.  To not trust the knowledge of a man who has harvested/guided more bear than many have seen on TV is frankly astonishing.  I don't know much about bears.  I am smart enough to recognize others who do.  I am a person who could over estimate bear size based on my limited knowledge and ignorance.  I do know Bearpaw is much much more likely correct than most plus I personally thought it to be a huge bait/coastal bear.  How could you not?  Bigjon that's a well deserved awesome bear whether its 299lb or 399lbs!!! Please continue to update us on your story and congrats.  To others who continue to insist on "Being right" grow up.
MAGA!  Again..

In defense of everyone who has commented, the OP did ask how big anyone thought the bear was? So that was in itself asking for a discussion about the size. One of the other moderators did remove all the negative posts from the success topic and put them all in this topic.

This bear makes a 55 gallon drum look small... Having read what I consider to be expert opinions on the matter of the size of this bear and seeing the bear hung up. I will stand with the gentleman stating the bear is 350-400 lbs and could easily push that 400 lbs envelope. Don't care what others think. Awesome bear to the OP! I hope to someday kill a bear in that class!

When baiting was legal, and we fed year around, as not to loose our bakery contracts. They grew big, we killed 14 over 350 and some to 498 hanging in locker. As bear paw said the bait grew big bears. The beat by the OP is a big bear. And I would take him at every avail  opertunity, congrats to a toad, Bring back bear baiting👍
