It's shaping up to be a bad winter for the Deer, Its not the Area it used to be. Plan on busting your Hinder just to find a Buck. I put in for the Area because I spent my Youth Hiking the Hills, If I ever get Drawn It will be more of a Driving around with my Father and having the remember whens, If I see A nice Buck i'll shoot, But if I dont it wont matter.

I know some of the inspectors up there and they all say the deer and elk herds have both had big declines over the last couple of years. Dont know why though.

I think its a great tag.  If u get drawn the watershed security guys are normally more than helpful to give u some good pointers.  Normally see them around the town of Lester by the gate when the season starts.

I drew that tag three years ago. One of the good things about drawing that tag is that you are allowed to shoot a bear or cougar if you see one also. I shot a nice buck. Here is the finished mount.

Hi Jason. I had eight points. You can take one other person in with you. They can't hunt though. Saw an average of ten to twelve deer every day. Three or four bucks each day. I shot my buck on the third day.

The city of Tacoma will send you maps of the watershed if you get drawn. They are very good maps.

I've hunted that several times the last few years, there are some great bucks but if the weather is nice it can be a pain to hunt. Better check the regs they are planning on moving the hunt dates for deer back to the middle of October which is a lot harder to hunt. The last 4 years its been more around the 1st week of November prime rut time. My dad and I hunted at the same time as guy who posted the picture 3 years ago, we hunted 2 days the first was sunny and warm, we saw 5 does, the next day was cold and pouring we saw 19 deer 5 were bucks 2 trophy size all from the road since he's disabled. We ended up taking a nice 3 point one of the smaller bucks, all I can say is we had a chance at the big boys but thats hunting. If you know someone who knows the unit you should do well even if the numbers are down.

There have been "book" bucks shot all over the west side. I worked for the railroad and our Auburn to Ellensburg Pool ran through the watershed. Those of us that have worked that run have seen many large "HUGE" bucks. Put in for the tag Jason. If you draw, I don't think that you will be dissapointed. Good luck.
