Dead mouse bit me
« on: July 09, 2018, 09:16:21 AM »
My darling dearest tiny hunters brought me another dead mouse this morning, I thought it would be about time I start practicing my survivalist skills and dress the thing and cook it up. It was cold but rigger mortis hadn't kicked in yet so it was probably only dead for a few hours, 7 at the absolute most. Well while I was rinsing it after skinning, and putting it on a skewer, the darn things tiny teeth nicked my finger. Blood hadn't started to come out yet before I washed the sucker and doused it in alcohol. Any more seasoned survivalists got any advice for me for this situation? I had rinsed it already a few times, but I'm honestly soo easily paranoid lol. I'm assuming it'll be fine, but any advice from yall would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advice!

Edit: I didn't eat it, I cooked it for my cats you absolute animals

Let it bleed a bit before tending.  Use the blood to push out anything bad that might have got into the cut.

The paranoid part can't be true.

If you're willing to eat a rodent your cat brought, I'd think you'd also be willing to roll the dice with the nicked finger thing.

Okay didn't know I shoulda clarified this; I was practicing survival techniques on it like skinning and gutting, I wasn't gonna eat it lol... I actually cooked it and fed it back to my cats because they're too darn tamed to know they can eat uncooked meats. I did keep the pelt though, it is insanely soft.

Got bit by a live mouse my cat had a few years ago , drew blood , killed it than washed the bite with some soap and peroxide , I'm not any dumber as far as I know and all my blood tests I have annually for work are normal for me so Unless you start foaming at the mouth you are probably ok , and you probably shouldent eat stuff you cat kills by you do you man ......

There was a guy in Oregon a couple years ago that took a dead rat away from a cat.  The flea jump to him and he later died of the plague.
