This is all part of the negotiated  culvert replacement via the lawsuit with the tribes.  I have mixed emotions on this. There was a negotiated ranked replacement schedual. The lawsuit was because the tribes didn't think it was moving quick enough.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

This will have a huge impact on archery elk hunting in that area.  :bash:

If they get the same crew that's doing Hwy 92 in Machais, expect it to take 7 or 8 more days than their plan...

That'll mess with some folks' hunt plan for sure.

Good of you to post if for folks.

It could be a good thing if you get up in the woods at the start of the season . . . and don't plan on coming out until the 14th.  That's assuming they are on schedule and open SR 97 by the 14th.  Could be there longer!  You would have a lot let hunting pressure.

Bad news for your shocks, for sure, but can't you get to most areas you'd be hunting via the forest roads anyway?

That said, I'm with you on the dumb timing.  Wouldn't it make far more sense to do it after the salmon runs are done anyway?

There are some other ways in......depending on where you want to hunt....but much much longer FS road drive.

Some areas are only accessible via the pass.  >:(
