I just drilled, used silicon gasket material and screwed it on. Haven't had a leak in several years. I also covered the screws on the inside with silicon. The screws I used were black coated and have not corroded.

I have done this to all my boats, never had a leak. Transducer, speed indicator, and Smart Tabs (trim tabs) all mounted the same way.

He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

How thick is your hull? Can you mount on the floor shoot through? Slow setting epoxy will work

Mine had instructions for through the floor. If I remember right they did not recommend going through aluminum, good on wood or glass. Scatters the signal or something ?

I'm gonna check out that stern saver bracket, sounds like a good product! I think I'm getting the hook3 lawrance or the little garmen, small transducer.

The Alumaducer would be an option as well   especially if your boat is .100 aluminum
