Badlands Super Day vs Silent Stalker?
« on: August 17, 2018, 01:33:33 PM »
I am looking into these two packs and have not found anywhere local that gives me a chance to get hands on.
Anyone have experience with these?
I couldn't find much on the silent stalker. What size of hydration bladder can it hold.
There is a healthy price difference.
My old Rocky pack is about done, and I am done stitching it up, and it has no sleeve or anything for a hydration bladder either.

Bobs in longview has had most of the Badlands packs including the super day. I’ve got the Super day. And I’m in Woodland also. If you’d ever like to check it out. No experience with the silent stalker.

I really only use it for scouting missions and as a typical backpack now. An Exo Mountain pack is what I run now for all my hunts.

My question is what are you using the pack for?  I personally am not a fan of what the industry labels as day packs (not designed to pack anything heavier than a sandwich without discomfort, and, you've gotta head back to the truck to get a larger pack to get your kill outa the woods... been there, got the T-shirt).  IMO, the Badlands Super Day (or the Silent Stalker), or any industry labeled day pack is stretching the limits even to use a day hunting pack (I know, that may ruffle some feathers).  You "will" get shoulder pinch with them once you put even 15+ pounds in em; they are not designed for packing anything over very light weight.  If you're looking for true hunting pack, one that compresses for a functional day pack, and, can expand to haul a substantial load of meat out (or a camp in).. the ideal setup for any big game hunter (if I may be so bold)... you may wish to look at one of those packs that are designed to do just that (there are several that have padded shoulder pads, functional load lifters, a robust waste band, and expand or contract as needed, bladder compatible, etc.).  If you take the plunge and get a good all in one pack, you'll never need to pack shop again  ;)

This could be my post. I just retired my old reliable Rocky. I just bought the super day at cabelas. I like buying there cause I can try it out for a long time and decide if I like it. I tried several others and the super day is perfect for me. The built in holster carries my 44 better than my holster. I payed $199 but then I looked on ebay and found it for $169 no tax and free shipping. I called cabelas to see if they match price and they said no. So I ordered from ebay today and the other will go back to cabelas.

I have the Superday pack. 11 years now.  Nice pack, I have hauled out first load of elk, backstraps and tenderloins in the big compartment.  I use mine almost daily. Pistol holster is handy.  Badlands lifetime warranty is top notch, I had to send mine back couple weeks ago for zipper repair, turnaround was less than 10 days, no cost except for 12$ return shipping.
