Funny thing is they don't have the pack documented thats running on the west side of Priest and filtering over into the Wa side in the Kalispell/Leclerc NOR do they have th e one on the east side of Priest the one working the back side of the Pack river country and Indian creek and the Selkirks there. Makes you wonder how many they don't have on that map.

Bone - interesting point on the East & West side of Priest, because I was thinking the same thing. A friend of a friend had the Moose tag in 1-4, which is the East side of Priest if I remember correctly and he stated that he talked to the BIO and the BIO said tha there is a significant problem with wolves in that NE corner of Idaho.
Also - If I remember correctly a Pack is considered as few as a breeding pair, but I invite someone to correct me if I am wrong, because I am recalling that from memory.

Makes a guy want to spread a little parvo around in the woods. I should have gathered some of that wolf crap I found near Yelly and seen if it had any.....

Theres been wolves on both side of priest for a long time. Lots of them. Not sure what they consider a pack. Seems like they had a distinction on that map, even if it was 4 animals or more or something. I'll have to go back and look at the legend.

The legend shows a disparity that a document group is less than 4 animals, so one would assume that a pack is 4 or more animals.

I'm sure there are more than 4 on the west and the east side of Priest.

I believe that it just means that they haven't hearded the 4 + together on the same occassion to document and collar. I am not sure what the definition of documented is...

In the washington plan a pack will be as few as two animals. A
breeding pair
counts if the young survive until Dec. 31st.

There also areas where it says groups were terminated... That does not mean the entire group was terminated as we are led to believe. The map shows groups have been terminated in Pass creek and Copper Basin but that is not the case. Yes they have killed many wolves in there but definately not all the Wolves.... Unless the Bulls have learned to howl and started wearing wolf skins like the Indians did.

Has anybody heard the good news yet? As of March 6, 2009, wolves are now delisted as an endangered species in Idaho, Montan, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Look for a 2009 hunting season for wolves in Idaho and Montana after the law takes affect on April 30, 2009!!

FINALLY!!! Some good news!
We'll see what happens when they start proposing tags and seasons...The greenies will likely make another attempt to put them back on the list like they did before.
