Iep permits
« on: August 28, 2018, 10:40:29 PM »
Everyone has been saying to buy an IEP permit, but is it really worth it if everyone is hunting that same area? I even went to game and fish and that was the first words out of his mouth, I've been reading up and down these forums constantly looking for new information to help me with areas and places to go hunt, yes I do have onx hunt, extremely excited for this year's modern firearm hunt since it's my first hunt since moving here a few years back, just got my tag in the mail and now it's crunch time, any advice would be awesome, I'm a walk and stalk mule deer hunter, so many abbreviations and different places anything helps :dunno:

I have hunted IEP lands for 30 years and to say everyone hunts it is laughable. I rarely run into anyone while hunting muzzy or archery

Lots of modern firearm hunters then? I've heard there's just lots of competition out there during that season

Just buy the day pass if you don't plan to hunt it too often. Lots of IEP land to hunt even during modern rifle or go out on weekdays.

Most anywhere with public land(or easily accessible private in this case) will have people on it during modern firearm. It’s a zoo no matter where you go - yes, there are pocket and spots where you can get away but don’t expect to “have the woods to yourself”.

Dang it, guess I'll have to adjust, I'm used to knowing spots and understanding area units, time will help, I'm just happy to be hunting again, my hometown in N.D. really died down for deer hunting, practically impossible to draw a tag there

i love the "public land is crowded" for some reason the places I go I don't see anyone. I was a avid archer for whitetails for close to 25 years and then switched over to rifle to chase muleys and have yet to see a single hunter on public land in 2 years
