lots of places to go...up the tucannon or over by asotin...take them fishing and camping at the tucannon lakes..stop in at the last resort up the tucannon and get local info...
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

I've had to stop at a turkey traffic jam behind a school bus just up from the last resort. Birds were struttin and fartin around right smack in the middle of the road. I love that area.
May the morning silence be broken with the wisp of vanes trailing blades to their mark.

How's the snow depth over there? Any idea when it will be melting off? Please tell me warmer temps are being forecasted for the next two weeks.

the snow is pretty well melted off for the most part around the foothills. on top of all the mountains there are still a foot or so in the trees that havent seen the sunlight much.

i spent the weekend at my inlaws...3500' out of pomeroy and there was about a foot of snow when i got there friday. when i left sunday it was pissing rain and the snow was melting fast. some of the dirt roads up pataha flats and peola are/were still covered with snow. we didn't get down to the tucannon but i imagine the strutters will be lined up across the road from the last resort. i wonder if the longbeard with no tail is still around.
i intended to get around to asotin creek but as usually happens other things got in the way. the goat kids have a real nice pen ready for them rather than me getting any turkey scouting in.

Thanks for the heads up guys.. I think I'll take my chances and head that way this weekend. Driving 7 hours has to be justified, lol.. I don't wanna get over there and not be able to do any scouting. Thanks again...

i would guess that getting into the national forest at asotin creek or up the peola or the 40 road would be tough. you could get a little ways but you'll get blocked by snow at some point. i hit snow over the road sunday morning way way way lower than the national forest. if you're headed to the tucannon you won't have any issues at all.

We were looking at elevations around 3500-4000' at most. Above the Tucannon and not so much in the bottom where every Tom, Dick, and Harry will be. It's supposed to rain the next couple days. Ya think enough will melt off by Sunday?

Riley,
I think Justin and I are going to hit the youth weekend (4 and 5 Apr).  Got any ideas for us?  Wanna do some calling?  I suck at turkey calling.  Send me a PM or give me a call.  You and Cory should come out and watch Jus play baseball this year too.  He got drafted for the Majors.  Had his first practice yesterday, he's stoked..
