send them back...Leupold has the best warranty in the business. they did right by me when the rifle/scope got used as a landing skid in a scree field.

call first and describe what is happening...they will likely have a good answer on the phone...or will tell you how to properly ship them back.

Give them a try before flaming them.

I have NOTHING but GOOD to say about Leupold's customer service....

I have a Vari-X II 3-9 on my Winchester SS/composite 30-06...It got used as a landing skid as I slid down a scree field...dinged up the rifle stock, rifle and scope something fierce.  This at the END of deer and I have a big elk hunt coming up the NEXT WEEK...I called Monday and asked if there was ANYTHING I could do short of a NEW scope in the time frame involved. Leupold sent me a "loaner scope" while I next-dayed MY scope to them, I got a call on Thursday telling me that MINE was FIXED but that it couldn't get there in time for my hunt...so go with the loaner and tell them how i liked it.  I sighted the rifle in on Thursday, hunted for 4 days and bagged an elk, got back to home with elk and loaner scope to find my scope in a box WITH A RETURN LABEL, shipping paid for the loaner.

Swap again...and I have a slew of Leupolds on my rifles now...I get them whenever I can afford them.  that was, by the way, my FIRST Leupold, to that time I had hunted with vintage Redfield 2-7X scopes almost exclusively.

Whatta ya mean I can't have one of each?

I have read too many stories and have helped a friend switch out a Leupold, badly fogged, which cost him a nice whitetail.
I would get it fixed or replaced by Leupold, sell it, and try another brand.
I own zero Leupolds for this reason, and have never had to send one of my scopes or 'nocs back to the manufacturer for a failure.
Others clearly feel differently...and that's fine.

Everyone in my family uses Leupolds and have had nothing but perfect service from them (No problems, zero ,zilch) My 3 x 9 is 22 years old and been through some of the nastiest crap you could imagine and never ever lost its zero, fogged up or anything. My dad had a 30 year old 3 x9 that fell off his bench onto the concrete floor and dented the tube pretty bad. He sent it in to Leupold and they didn't have a replacement for that specific tube but offered a scope at cost. My brother has a 20 plus year old 3 x9 and has never had a problem with it either. BTW I shoot magnum rounds out of my .30-06 and let me tell you after all the rounds I have shot through it if it was to lose its zero it would have a long time ago.

I would send it back and give them another chance. Millions of people can't be wrong.

my opinion on leupold is this, everyone states that they have a great warranty and will repair anything free of charge and get it right back to you but wouldnt you all rather have optics that you dont have to worry about a warranty on? that is why i use nikon riflescopes they are durable and i dont have to worry about a warranty

right....everything breaks or has the possibility to break at some point.
new cars, new trucks, new computers, new scopes. thats why they all have warranties. it's not what breaks or doesn't break, but how you are taken care of when it breaks.
it's not a perfect world...

I totally agree with you, I have a friend that has one of those Nikon scopes, got all nice and cloudy for him two weeks out from going on a caribou hunt to Alaska, sent it in they said it would take a week, 4 days before he went on hunt he went and bought a Leupold. Got the Nikon back about 3 weeks after he got beack from the hunting trip, it now sits in his gun safe.

I have never had an issue with something breaking just how you are treated once it does.

You are right they are crap. In fact, send it to me you should not be burdened with it any longer. I will suffer with their repair program.  :P
