New to Stanwood & Want to Hunt Birds
« on: September 09, 2018, 03:57:27 AM »
I just moved to Camano Island from southern California in May and I'm looking for someone to hunt birds of any kind; doves, quail, pheasant, ducks, or geese.  I'm a young 63 years old and I've been hunting big game for many years but I only started hunting birds a few years ago and I don't have a lot of experience.  I do have dove decoys, a few dozen duck decoys, a 4WD pick-up, and a young but very eager and talented bird dog (chocolate lab).
I'd love to connect with someone to hunt with.  I would also appreciate any advice to help me learn the area.

Nw chapter meets second Tuesday of every month at the Conway firehall. Good group of guys and they do some great work locally. It's a good chance to meet other hunters and to do some good work in the local area. They put on a youth hunt for the youth weekend taking new kids out. Rick is the chapter president.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Thanks.  I am interested in the WWA but it will be tough for me to make it in September.  If I don't, I'll try for October.

You missed an awesome presentation by Belinda the Skagit area manager. Lots of slides of the different areas with the planting descriptions and area improvements.

Well i can show you some areas just outside of stanwood where you can hunt snow geese.  Pheasant hunting is available just outside of Everett on Ebby Island.  Not too far away from you.  Ducks coming up.  Pass shooting at the skagit wildlife area.  More if you have a boat to get out into the bay.  If so be careful of tides.
We came to hunt!
