Pheasants and deer
« on: September 29, 2018, 05:46:57 PM »
I was out pheasant hunting and found a few pheasants, but lots and lots of bucks.
I was north of Colfax and for whatever reason, this valley was full of bucks. Spikes, forked horns, 4 points and 5 points. I must have seen more than a dozen bucks. Sometimes 2 or 3  four pointers were in the same group.

And they were not far away. Maybe 150 yards at most. Some ran along the field keeping pace with the truck. I almost ran over a couple of spikes that decided now was the time to cross the road.

There was one incident involving a doe and yearlings.  The doe was running the same direction I was traveling, running full tilt, and the doe finally came to this tall fence and cleared it.
Unfortunately, the yearlings could not and ran right into the barbed wire fence, which stopped them cold. They recovered and crawled underneath the wire and continued on.

Yes it was on private land.

You will have to ask the landowner. This was on Thursday. I have been eligible for senior hunt for many years.
