Ok. Whats a northern pacific for us non snako guys? After reading all this its sad, nobody mentions pheasants anymore. There was a day when quail were not even shot at because there were so many ringnecks.

By Northern Pacific he means a rattlesnake. Pheasant season hasn’t opened on the eastside yet but they aren’t as plentiful as they used to be, mostly due to loss of habitat.

Bingo on the snake. My GSP was bit last year outside of the Tonasket area.  While they as less lethal than most they still release a hemotoxin that can kill. Compared to Mojave Greens and the Western Diamond Backs they are much smaller species. I have had encounters with all three. Being from Cali and hunting Arizona quite a bit, I became used to them and did not fear.  Dry strikes are not uncommon with dogs.  Regardless, be careful.

Thanks for the update. I saw quite a few last year , about the third week of October. All high desert chukar hunting. Waiting for a freeze here, young dog.
