Nice Colorado Buck
«

This is a nice buck we bumped into in Colorado a couple years ago. We were driving the border road between our unit and another and unfortunately he was about 100 yards up the hill in the wrong unit. What makes it worse was that his tracks came out of our unit!
It's by far the biggest buck we've seen in the area, and we've always wondered how wide he was. Had we been there 15 minutes earlier we might have been able to measure it ourselves. . . What do you guys think?

Yup, there are some dandy's from that state.. A friend of mine took these pictures off her back porch two years ago. Too bad you didn't catch that guy on the other side of the road.

He had small fronts for sure, the snow was pretty heavy. How wide do you guys think he was?

tough to say how wide he is walking away like that with his ears pinned back. definitely pretty wide, but i don't think he's 30"...thats the worst way to judge a deers width as pictured.

I attached a zoomed picture. Yeah I know it's not a great view to judge it. I only took two pictures, and the other one was blurred. I figured a mule deer's ass is 16-18" wide, so I guessed his width at around 34-36". I don't really field judge, or even measure animals after I've killed them. This being the widest buck I've ever seen I had to make a guess though!

I am definately no expert, and I can't feild judge to save my life, but looking at this obviously healthy, big bodied deer, he has to be at least 32"?

Very hard to tell but from experience I would put him at or almost 30. First thought was shy of 30 but his fronts do flare, so close.

No ears to reference it, and I haven't measured too many muley tails, LOL Just going off from big bucks from behind that have tremendous shrinkage when they turn around and look at ya. Honestly my first thought was about 28, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt with those flaring fronts.
