need help with coyote hunting

hi i have seen some yotes in my back yard and can not get them close to get a shot. i have a predator call that has a jack rabbit, cottontail rabbit,yote howl,pup yips, and fawn distress, what one should i use? i am in Arlington. any help would help me a lot thank you

i would try the rabbit(either one) first the important thing is try not to move to much and pay attentiion to your scent

coyotes. i always see them and can never get a shot off on one.

are you shooting around houses or around a neighborhood? i honestly wouldnt shoot coyotes with a .22 thats a bad idea IMHO

.22 head-shot if you can do it safely!  I live on the edge of the woods with nothing behid me for miles, so I was confident in this shot.  Took it this afternoon at about 30 yards with an old iron sighted .22

A 22 will kill them just fine.  I have killed them as far as 100 yards with my 10-22.  A farmer friend of mine says he shot one at 200 yards and dropped it dead.  I didnt believe him at first, but he showed me the carcass.  I guess its all about shot placement.  A good way to get them close is take a coon skin cap and tie about 100 yards of rope to it.  I use a coon squaller call and blow on it a couple of times while pulling the cap towards me.  I always make sure that I am pulling it through tall grass and small bushes so that it makes some noise.  Between the sight of the fur and the noise being made, they cannot resist checking it out.  Bring them in to where you feel comfortable enough making a good clean head shot and let er rip.

Yeah it was ugly.  Worse one I have ever seen up close!  Did wipe the milk from its lips for the photo.  I am thinking it is a pup from nearby as the other one I called in the oother day was much bigger, but I did not have a weapon as I was actually flying an RC helicoper in the back yard when I decided to try calling just for fun.

Bottom line is it is DEAD.  That makes it a good coyote in my book.
