alpen optics
« on: March 22, 2009, 11:05:19 AM »
I have had a pair of alpen 10x42 binos for about 4 years now, they work great and are comfortable to use, but just not that durable, eye piece in general.I have had them get double vision too. I have sent them back twice now, no questions asked and back in 4 days and a upgraded model , excellent customer service

I have an Alpen spotting scope.  I like it just fine, but like you said, not real durable.  Had it one year and it actually snapped in half (where the eyepiece glues to the barrel.)  They replaced it no questions asked.  I just had the metal ring where the tripod screws into the scope pop out the other day.  Not sure if I should send it back again or just epoxy it myself.  On the other hand the glass is nice.  Spotted 3 of the last 4 deer I have shot with it, and my son's buck this year.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Alpen offers a lifetime warranty.

Good glass for those of us on a budget.  I've used an Alpen 18x36x60 spotting scope for about 5 years now, no problem so far.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Not baggin on anyone here but as I've read through the threads like 4 or 5 out of 7 guys have had problems with their Alpen products.  It's cool that they have a lifetime warranty but the failure rate of over 50% seems a little high.

I've never looked at their products nor do I know what they cost but after reading through this topic it makes me think that a guy may be better off saving his change for a few months and getting something with a better track record.  Not sure its worth risking a hunt on... w/ my luck they'd fail me day 1 of my 5 day hunt.

I have some 8x42's and love them! No problems yet with them at all, had them for almost 3 years. Can't beat the price either.
