Mine has killed literally hundreds of prairie dogs in Wyoming. Distances up to 200 yards. Low cost, no recoil, great shooting practice.

One of my favorite rifles.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I miss my ol 17hmr.  Should have never sold it.  I liked the 25gr xtps took a lot of marmit with it. 300 yards was no problem on steel unless wind was bad.  Only reason I sold it was I couldn’t reload for it. Always planed on getting a 17 hornet or rem but never have

Never had as much fun as shooting a 1000 sage rats in a day and the .17 is by far the best for that..... Had blisters on my thumbs from loading mags.

I've shot countless sage rats with mine over the years and they make for a great ground squirrel gun, but then I went and bought a 17 WSM and I can't remember the last time I shot one of my 17 HMR's.  Like CAMPMEAT said, the 17 WSM is more better.

I shot several .22 Mags for many years. Switched to the .17 HMR for a year or two. Now the .17 HMR's are gone and I'm back to .22 Mags. But then again I feel the .308 Winchester is the queen of suck and you have to neck the suck out of it to make it perform. So why all the hastle when you can shoot a Creedmoor.

A empty vessel makes the most noise.

I shoot a lot of grouse every year with mine. All head shots. I can easily put 5 shots within a dimes size at a 100 yards. Too much fun to shoot!

My boys made a mess of prairie dogs in Wyoming this fall while I was antelope hunting. $200 heavy barrel marlin from Walmart with a Vortex Diamondback 4-12. Who can’t have fun with that? :dunno: :chuckle:

Yeah I seriously cant remember the last time I had mine out. I'm thinking about selling (via ffl transfer) it honestly. I might keep it, but the idea of trading it in for something that will see more use appeals...
