Muzzleloader sabot sampler packs
« on: December 22, 2018, 08:28:18 AM »
I recently bought a knight ultralite muzzleloader with a 209 ignition.  This is providing me with a chance to branch out from the Thompson bonded shockwaves that ive been hunting with.  Does anyone know if/where I can buy sampler packs of sabots?  I really want to try knight red hots, knight bloodlines, Barnes, nosler mz, and my shockwaves in the ultra lite before I pick one and start getting crazy with specific loads.  I don't want to buy a huge package of bullets if they arent going to work though.  Is there a way that I can buy 3-5 bullets of each type or am I stuck with purchasing larger quantities?  I know I want to shoot about a 300 grain bullet so I dont need different weights of the bullet lines.

I know you can get a sampler pack of sabots, but not bullets that I know of.

I like the Barnes TMZ 290 gr.  They are a little tight going into my Bighorn, so I buy the sabots from Knight that are for the BT bullets and loads easier.

The Nosler MZ are tight in my Bighorn, my buddy has to drive them into his Bighorn.  They are a .458 dia, I don't know of a thinner sabot to use.

If you are ever near North Bend, I could give you some of each to try.

I use those SST for plinking.  Cheap and accurate, but people have said performance on game was not great.

Think I was confusing WA with some other state that doesn't allow sabots

Perhaps a few people could buy a box of different types of bullets and agree to mail a few or meet up to trade some with each other?  I have plenty of T/C Shockwave 300 grain yellow tip now.  I plan to start doing a lot of shooting after Duck season is over.
