Kifaru’s range of options makes them attractive but if frame length is a concern, I’d wait a few months and see what’s released in the spring. Rumor is we’ll see some new offerings from Exo. Will a taller frame be one of them?

Well I’m one of the Kuiu pack guys. No complaints so far and have been running the Icon Pro for about 3 years now. I like being able to quickly swap out the bags for whatever I’ve got going on.. I usually pack in everything with the 7200 bag and my 1850 bag is nicely packed in there as well. When I get to camp I swap to the 1850 bag and have a perfect day pack for the entire trip. The bags are really lightweight so I’m not ever concerned about leaving it behind.. I’ve hauled quite a few critters out between the frame and bag with no problems as of yet. I know a lot of people knock the Kuiu packs, but for the price (got mine on there 30% off sale), I’m definitely a satisfied customer. I’ve really put them through the ringer with no problems or failures of any kind so far..

I got a mystery ranch pintler for this last season and it was fantastic. Packed 2 bulls out and 3 bucks on it this year and so happy I bought one. It has an amazing amount of adjustment to get it to fit you. My buddy has one and he is 6'6" 270lbs and he loves the fit of his Pintler. Another buddy has the Kuiu Icon pro and it kept squeaking when he would walk it was annoying. Pros and cons to all packs. Good luck!

I could be wrong but I think the 4000 will basically be the 3500, the move will keep things in order and not confuse people with the new 3000.

I am using an exo 3500 bag on a k2 frame, it is well thought out and very comfortable. If your going to do extended back country hunts I would recommend getting 5500 bag. It will compress down real nice for day hunts. I had a mystery ranch prior to my exo pack, it was bomb proof. It wasn’t as comfortable as my exo but it also didn’t have load lifters and lumbar support. They started mass producing mystery ranch outside the USA as well, no idea what the quality of their gear is any more but I bet it isn’t as good as those made in Montana. I think the only other pack I would consider is a kifaru, don’t think you could go wrong there with the versatility of options and great reviews people give them. You get what you pay for comes to mind.

JN, get yourself an Exo Mountain Gear 3500 and call it a day, you’ll never regret it. You want/need an all in one pack that compresses to daypack config for hunting but will expand out to carry a 5 day camp in, or, pack as much elk meat out as you can carry.

Yes, I'm planning on investing in the 3500 sometime between now and September.. Last years pack of my brothers bull was hell with my cheap one that I took to the dump  gotta be in better shape this fall too, that'll help a lot as well.

It sounds as if Exo will be making some changes to their lineup this spring, including different size frames.  Might want to wait and see what they come up with.

 I can't say anything about kifaru other than they look like a awesome system. Ive tried kuiu, stone glacier, and exo. I now have the exo 5500 and love it. I'm only 5' 10' so the frame isn't an issue for me. I'm in battle ground if you want to check it out in person sometime.

I looked at all the top end packs and ended up buying mystery ranch metcalf. No regrets! Very best bang for the buck. Expo and kifaru seemed great, simply not affordable for me. Mystery ranch often has killer deals.
