Bob Marshall guided hunt.
« on: December 29, 2018, 07:39:58 AM »
My buddy and I just booked with mills wilderness adventures for a 9 day elk rut hunt in the bob Marshall. So excited to get in an hear some bugling bulls. Anyone hunted with mills before any advice on what we should bring/ be expecting? We're going September 24th through October 2nd.
We are going to be buying wolf tags as well

Thanks. we are super stoked. As much as we would like it to work out where we both tag out, we figure the experience alone is worth it even if we come home empty.  Just getting in 20 plus miles on horseback and seeing some amazing country will be the experience of a lifetime.

$5,300 for the Bob Marshall Wilderness hunt during the rut, and $4,600 during regular season, both are guided hunts. I booked my father and I through Mills Wilderness Adventures for October 5-13.

That should be a great hunt my friend went with them about 15 yrs ago. He was hunting the last camp time frame. That year he said there was a ton of snow. On the way out they had to go thru a pass and had to shovel snow to get thru the pass. I couldn't tell you off the top of my head which camp that was. They didn't end up getting an elk but said the views were spectacular. I saw pics from the China wall and always desired to go there.

Great country, you will have a great experience.  Manage your expectations for elk, the density is fairly low but everything else makes up for an otc rifle rut hunt.

My 2012 hunt with them. 24 miles / 9 hr ride in. First pic is with Tucker. Second is his dad, Ron on left who has been going into that camp for 50 + years.
Ron said mine was the biggest ever taken out of that camp.
Story in Elk Hunter magazine Fall 2013.
Skyvalhunter, they talked about that trip when I was with them. Must have been a PITA to get out.
I did a 2011 summer Chinese Wall trip them. That trip convinced book a hunt the next year.
Years before that  I did a RMEF banquet/ Smoke Elser trip along the bottom. Had to see the top someday.
I WOULD NOT leave without seeing the WALL from the top. Not usually a ridge they hunt though. At least it didn't use to be.
You will have a great trip.
