Optima w/peep sight
« on: January 08, 2019, 08:10:46 AM »
So I bought a Optima v2 and had a Williams peep sight put on it.  Waiting for it to show I start doing some research and see that the front sight (might be) is to high for this application.  Without dragging this on longer than needed, my question is has anyone else ran into this problem, and how did you correct it.  Finding a shorter front sight seems like the easy fix, but after calling several muzzy places it seems that it might be difficult to find one that fits the optima.  Any suggestions?

I have the same setup, did not need to change the front sight.

I had the same issue when I put a rear peep on my Traditions Vortek.
I found a front sight online that was offered in 3 different heights and purchased the lowest one they had.
Worked out like a dream.
I will dig around and see if I can find it cause I think they listed it for CVAs as well.
Cant remember which site it was exactly. Brownells, Midway, Cheaperthandirt.... something like that.

Thank you for the reply.  As silly as it sounds, I haven't even shot it yet.  I will shoot and see if I have enough height at the rear.  I was just concerned I had to take it that high up the ramp just to center the front.  And then to find all  the forums stating a possible issue.  It very well might be fine.  I guess a guy could shim the back if needed.  A gunsmith should be able to do it up just fine.  Hopefully its will shoot fine and I wont need to go any higher.

I cut a plastic pop can shim and placed it under the rear sight.

I am hanging my head in telling you I have yet to shoot it.   Did you use the pop bottle plastic shim because of the same problem I sufer from?

Yes without the shim, the rear sight has hanging half way off the ramp.
