I love to hunt, but that was a little disheartening. I have no desire to shoot such a beast, but if someone else wants to, to each his own.

Yea, pretty screwed up video! Man, I sure wish that sort of stuff didn't make it onto the net but ya can't help that nowadays. But, it sure gives the "antis" more ammunition in their fight against us.

Idiots IMO.

Wow what an amazing hunt.  You would have to pay me to go and shoot an elephant.  Where's the skill at?

Plus, that guy looked like he had never hunted before.  Take a little time between shots and make sure you shoot it in a place that puts the animal down.  Very disheartening.  Hopefully PETA doesn't see that one, they will try and present every hunter as that guy.

I really like to hunt, but I could almost hurl after that.  Like others said he didnt seem to take his time and settle in for the shot
It's not always as it seems

I'm going to stick up for the little guy.  He obeyed every command of his PH.  He continued to shoot until the animal expired.  My biggest problem is with the original command to shoot from his PH.  They should have waited for a better shot.  The shot from behind was to try to anchor the elephant by hitting its spine.  Again, you can be off just a few inches and your round will not get to an elephants brain.  I don't see any difference between what he did and a guy that may hit an elk in the shoulder and have it deflect away from the vitals, and they continue to pump rounds into it until it is dead.  You can do everything possible to try to make that first shot perfect, but when an animal is wounded I hope you are continuing to shoot until it doesn't move.  Would you have felt better about hunting's image if he had shot once, let it wander into the bush and lay down under a tree to bleed out and die that way?

That guy needs to learn how to shoot... just cause you can hit the head doesn't mean you're gonna put it down...  Great video on what not to do!

Also, is that a standard bolt action?  Doesn't quite sound like a normal bolt recycling a shell...   :twocents:

Michael

Michael the rifle is a Blaser. That's why they sound differently while cycling a round. Price depending on options? $16000.00 They make a 375H&H Mag and a 416 Rem Mag in their Safari rifle. The rifle has a brake and my guess is it is a 416 Rem Mag. I thought the guide should have stepped in after the second shot?

Looks Very UNPROFESSIONAL To Me?   :twocents:

I agree the PH was the problem. Although the so called "HUNTER" should slow down and take a quality shot! But I will not judge, because I have never been there myself.

I agree.  He might have been out of range for his big double though?

That was terrible. I am suprised the PH (I use that term loosely) would tell him to even take that first shot. Piss poor shooting. :mor: Disgusting!

I killed a sick kitty cat for my Grandma with a Ruger 1022. Put 10 rounds in the head, it did not fall over, sat there and shuck it's hear, reloaded and put another 10 in it's head. :dunno:
