Coyote Hunting Tomorrow!
« on: March 25, 2009, 06:06:13 PM »
Well, everything is packed up ready to go!

My old man and I are going to give this a try for the first time.  Got brand new AR-15's that need to be initiated!  We are heading up towards INDEX, going to do some scounting and pick a spot.

Anyone have any other idea's on where a good place might be worth checking out?  We live in Snohomish and are trying to stay around 2hrs or less drive.

Thanks!

all i can say is get ready to get disappointed. i too am new to yote hunting (since the first of the year) i have called some in got one shot off ( 400 yards and hit some alder tops  :bash: ) and i know where a good size pack is living. and i haven't seen so much as one hair on those buggers in the last 3 weeks. from what i gather this is not the best time for yote hunting. there is one living out behind my house that just sits in the field at about 150 yrds that my wife wont let me shoot because she says "that's cheating"

Yah, I am just going to have fun, don't expect much.  Just want to start scouting around and try to get a feel for getting set up.  Plus, I'm itchin to pack my new AR, haha.

i was being a little cynical with my post  ;) it really is a blast. and when you actually do call one in its quite the rush, more so than i thought it would be. certainly got me hooked

Well, didn't get any today!  But had a great time scouting and packing the rifles around.  Beautiful sunny day with nice snow on the ground.   Soon as I started messing with the cord on my Extreme Dimentions Phantom caller I immediatlly thought "I'll be getting a FoxPro with wireless remote".  :chuckle:

Also, I thought I'd give my predator shooting stix a try...couldn't get comfortable, pissed off that I had to carry them around. May leave those in the truck next time!

Didn't call anything in, but we did see a great big bobcat cross the road and some deer while we were driving in.  Saw a few coyote tracks in the snow, but no luckl.  On the way home I swung into Everett Courthouse filled out the paperwork for my CPL! Been wanting to get that done for years!

To end our day, heading home on southbound I5 I look to my left and a nice coyote is watching us drive by at 65mph.   :yike:

New coyote hunters need to be patient while on their stands, and aggressive about finding good places to hunt.
Live all you can: It’s a mistake not to.
