Nice!

good for a young trapper starting out,  I bought my stuff but I have the means to do so,  I would love to see this go to a mentored youth.

Really blows that my fire refresher is March 30th! I’ll have to get to the June one.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Hi Folks   :hello:
I just stopped over at Fred place today.  All I can say is I sure hope you "New - First Year Trappers" are planning on sending in your application for the $1,500.00 give-a-way.
I stopped and all of the "New" stuff he has already, I mean "WOW" I wish I was a new trapper.
Everything I seen he had was new!  Cage traps, wood stretchers, trapping books & DVD's, T-shirts, drinking mugs, bottles of bait & lure just to name a few.   :yike:
So sharpen up your pencils and fill out that app that you received at your trapper training class.
Make sure you take a lot of pictures to go along with the application.
If you don't have an application, there is one in the last issue of The Fur Shed.
Good Luck to all of you and I'll see you at the summer rendezvous.
JC   :hello:

??? My calendar says the winter rendezvous is on March 14. Did I get the date wrong?
Also, the events page on watrappers.com says the summer rendezvous is August 7th, 8th, 9th.

wow, never realized how expensive it has become with the cage trap rules! As a teen in NY state in the 70's, a hundred dollar investment covered 4 dozen traps or so and netted a couple grand in rats every winter! No wonder it is a lost art to young kids!

ya a few years back I was getting $14.00 for my rats, today I'm getting $3-4.00.
A few years ago a dozen of colony cage taps only cost you maybe $60.00 and today ....... same thing.

But your right back in the 70's you could by 4 dozen of foot-hold but since then steel has gone so far up I can't believe it.
Back in the 70's I was making $5.00 an hour and today their making $15.00 an hour flipping hamburgers.

So the art isn't gone, The parents stopped trapping so their kids don't know about trapping because their parents are not teaching them.
So bring your kids out to our winter and summer rendezvous so they can hear and learn how to .....
Don't give up on the kids, get them away from the TV and the Cell Phones and bring them outside.
Just my two cents  :twocents:

You got it right. May be a little confusion  with some on the Summer Rendezvous as it had been tentatively  reported for another date. August 7th, 8th and 9th are for sure. I've signed the contract.
