A surprise for Teacherman
« on: March 26, 2009, 08:19:06 PM »
Teacherman opened his mail today and sure nuff a spring bear permit.  We had a laugh over this because when we checked on line it said he had not been drawn. After a quick conference between the two of us, we decided to believe the paperwork in hand.  After all one in the hand are worth two in the net.
The only thing that is a bit of a sticker is he drew an area we are not all that familiar with.  The Aladdin unit, GMU111.  If any of you guys have any experience in that area please give him a pm.
The poor guy had to fly out tonight for the razor clam dig on the coast this weekend so we can all wish him our best. Poor kid anyway, and a little *censored* head for not taking me.

No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

you can say I was quit surprised!  I took a look at the unit and I know it better than I thought I did. I think that I'm going to focus up toward the Ione and Metaline side, there are a lot of bears in that area.

Anyone else ever had this happen to them? On-line tell you no go, and then get a permit in the mail.  :chuckle:
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

I've never had it happen, but hey, you got the tag in hand right?

I'd hit some of the Mill creek area as well.  Get's hit pretty hard by Turkey hunters, but there are some very good creek bottoms in there with good green grass early and I've seen quite a few bears in there during Turkey season.  Saw a bona fide piggy in there in spring of 2007, got within 20 yards and coulda bow shot him if I'd had a tag.  Congrats....
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

Tag is in hand, plus I checked my online status again and it says that I got drawn. Wonder what happend, why it changed. Thanks for the tip. I'm thinking of trying to do it with my bow. I figured I will scout just below snow line and look for sunny slopes with fresh greens. Never hunted bear in the spring. I'm going to look like a golfer out there, bow for shots under 50 yards, 45/70 for the thick stuff, 7mm for long shots, my driver, and a 338 ultra mag as an all around club.  :chuckle: Like I said just like golf, you need a bag of clubs, you never know the shot.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.
