Anyone have any experience? I was thinking about trying it but wondered what everyone thought?

I like it. I have two with the Long Range Duplex reticle. You should also look at the new Freedom with the tri-MOA reticle. Similar to the Long Range Duplex, but better.

I have looked at tri-moa and it seems kind of “busy”? I feel like in the heat of the moment too many crosshairs could get confusing. Have you taken the time too Determine the distance between the aiming points? Have you successfully used them? Thanks for the response!

It works well.  The idea is you have a 200 yard zero.  You get the best results with cartridges that go around 3000 ft/sec.

If you are shooting something that is going 2700'ish ft/sec, you get better results with the Burris BDC, and a 100 yard zero. 

Of course there a bunch of different factors at work. 

I generally run my ballistics on a ballistics app, and compare the drop chart in IPHY (inches per hundred yards), against the spacing of the ballistic reticle.   It gives you a good idea of how close your reticle will be to your load.   


Edit to add, if you have any more information on what caliber/speed you are planning to run it on, I can give you a little better answer.

The scope will be mounted on a .243 with a 20” barrel. I’m not sure the bullet and load yet. I’m leaning towards either the federal 90 grain accubond, Winchester 95 grain ballistic silver tip, or the federal 85 grain tax.

I have the Strelok app on my phone which is very useful in determining exactly how to zero the scope. I have the 3-9x40 with the LRD on a 270 and on a 338. Works great for both. I'd definitely recommend you get Strelok or some other Ballistic app.

Bobcat - I need to send my scope back to have the Reticle changed. It's a Heavy Duplex. My scope is a Old VariXIII 3.5-10. I am using this on my .338 and am using 200 grain Accubonds and using 74 grains of IMR 4350 and getting 3000 FPS. Would the LDR Reticle work good for me ? Yesterday they said it would be $200.00 for just the Reticle change to just a standard Duplex.

Yes the LRD would work great but I'm not sure it's worth paying $200 to have it changed. When I had mine done a couple years ago it was under $100. They recently increased the cost substantially. I would sell your scope and buy one that already has the reticle you want.

Thanks darn it . What would be a good price to list it at ? It's also in Silver - Been a Great scope to me But I'm not hunting the deep timber on the coast anymore. It's all overgrown and the timber companies want to much now to hunt on their land !!

Does anybody got like a 4-12 with the CDS also would like the Firedot too ?? Right now I don't have a ton of money to spend.
