#10 shell holder
« on: March 27, 2009, 03:02:00 PM »
I've got a RCBS #10 shell holder, it's for a .222.  I bought a set of RCBS dies used for the .223, it had a #10 shell holder with it but it is obviously not a RCBS, a .30-06 fits it good but the .223 doesn't come close.  That shell holder doesn't have any other markings on it.  What brand of shell holder would a #10 be that fits a .30-06?

Hornady Shellholder #10 (357 Sig, 40 S&W, 10mm Auto)

Lee Universal Shellholder #10 (220 Swift, 225 Winchester, 6.5mm Japanese)

Lyman Shellholder #10 (218 Bee, 25-20 WCF, 32-20 WCF)

RCBS Shellholder #10 (17 Remington, 204 Ruger, 223 Remington)

Redding Shellholder #10 (17 Remington, 204 Ruger, 223 Remington)

This is what I found on Midway.

I just checked it out again:  it can't be a Redding, RCBS or Hornady.  None of those #10's fit the  calibers listed for those manufacturers.
I don't have a 220 Swift, 225 Winchester, 6.5mm Japanese  218 Bee, 25-20 WCF, 32-20 WCF case to check, if it's any of those it won't do me any good anyway.  It didn't fit the 30-06 either.  I give up.

Your RCBS shell holder for the 222 should work just fine with 223 cases.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

That it does.  I was just trying to figure out what the other # 10 unmarked shellholder was for.

From the list above it is likely the Lee as the Swift, 225 and 6.5 are very close to the 30-06 in rim size.
