Kennel odor control

How do you all control urine/feces smells in outdoor kennels/runs?
I’m working with a space that is 8’ wide x 12’ long. I’ve tried plain dirt, 2” gravel, now currently been covered in 2” of sand, over time with 3 labs, it gets pretty ripe- even with poo picked up daily.
Vinegar/bake soda, then heavy bleach is my current go to, just figure there’s got to be a better way.

How about 6+ inches of gravel.... with frequent washdowns?  Wife says cat litter but that could get spendy.

Lol agreed.  Treat my dogs like they were my kids.

Concrete? Still got to wash urine off.... then ground around will build up smell, Right?

My dad had a dog run he put in a thin concrete slab that had a small trough that ran to the corner and on that corner he had dug a hole that he would cover the bottom of with lime and then he would just hose run off into that hole.
If my discription and explanation makes sense

When I had my dog run, I had the back corner up on two pallets that I covered with carpet and put there house on. The front half was sand then landscaping river rock. My dogs didn't pee or poop in it often but even when they did, I never really noticed any smell

With that trough system, could it be plumbed into sewer or septic system ? My dogs just run the fenced back yard. Pick up poo and the urine gets taken care of with watering.

The kennel I bought one of my dogs from had a neat kennel design.  Had raised dog beds/platforms above the concrete making it easier for them to clean the concrete floors with a hose without having to move the dog bedding/house around.   

As mentioned by huntnfamily you can use various cleaners for the urine smell.

That would work as well if your dog run was near your septic lines.

I also use 4x8 stock trailer rubber mats from North40 on my kennel floor.

Concrete with drain is not going to be an option.  I did try those cheapo concrete bricks once....bad idea, too porous and trapped smell in them.

FWIW singleshot, my dogs have free roam of entire house, furniture and beds. They have 2 doggy doors that allow them to access outside pee area(kennel/run)
Would love to own acreage in the country.....wanna float me some cash? Lol
