Heading to Potholes....
« on: April 19, 2019, 06:03:02 AM »
Next weekend for a few days, anyone got a report on the fishing?

Walleye will be our main target, bringing a newbee.......

And looking to do some catfishing, but not sure of an area to hit, all I have heard is fish in the coulee. But anyone got more specifics they are willing to share?

Really really slow. Should pick up in a week or two. No water flowing, making the channels hard to catch fish in. There spawning heavy right now so kinda off the bite. I did scoop up a 27 incher the other day, it was floating on top, struggling, spawn must have done something to it. I put her in my live well, put some weights on her fins to keep her upright, hour later she was as good as new and back in she went. Swam away like nothing happened.

Too many fun things to do this time of year with too little time. Potholes is just on the edge of the must do list every spring.  Some of the best warm water fishing in the state though.

I used to go there every year just for the perch and crappie fishing.

Any tips on catching perch or crappie?
Only have caught them accidentally fishing for walleye, and would love to target the, just don't really know how or where  :dunno:
