There are several really good threads about hunting easterns on this sub forum. If you do a search they should pop up. Many skilled hunters have contributed stellar information on what it takes to succeed. From my own personal experience the majority of easterns are now on private land, or land that requires an access permit. Plan far ahead and expect to spend a few years and several pairs of shoes scouting.

So what your saying it cheaper  to buy a plane ticket to TN and kill 2 or 3 on my uncle's  place then to waste my time here.

I would t say it’s a waste of time, but they sure are a frustrating bird. Last year was my first year hunting turkeys and I live on the Westside so I used information from this site and started scouting in January. I hiked every weekend. Found tracks, poop, feathers and heard some early morning gobbles. A member on here was kind enough to give me a call and give me some pointers on calling turkeys which helped me out a great deal. I ended up calling in two, but both were foiled by things I had no control over. Which is the frustrating part. Had one gobbling like crazy at every cluck I made and was coming in on a rope. I quickly set up, gobbles were so close, chest high grass started moving, I drew back, see black in the grass and out steps baby bear at 25 yards. :yike:
Gobbles continued as I cleaned out my pants and snuck out of there. It was either a phan Tom or momma bear ate the last turkey hunter and was luring me in.
I don’t mind the lack of success. I have a lot of issues and the woods help me calm my mind.
