KSG for Turkey
« on: May 06, 2019, 08:23:15 PM »
So since I cannot kill a turkey for the life of me, decided to shake up turkey camp next week by showing up with a KSG.

Started forming the plan in Feb. started watching you tube videos. On choke adapters.
Than there was plugging the magazines to only hold two 3 inch shells.

Best video on gaining access to mags was one on changing the followers.

And not one but four special tools. And two wood dowels from hardware store.

Got all the components and a quiet Sunday afternoon alone I tackled the job.

First off with the front flip site. And the rail screw.
Than the barrel nut with special tool #1.

Than the two mag tube bolts with special tool # 2. 1/4 turn each at a time.
And the front plate comes off.

Than the magazine caps with special too #3

Special too #. 4 is a vice block made to hold the KSG in a vice.

Than the magazine springs.

Put a wood dowl in left mag. So it could not receive shells , and shorter dowl  in the right side to allow two 3 inch long beards.

Now put back together and checked everything.
Now I am ready to screw on choke adapter in place of barrel nut.

Ummm. What did I do with that adapter I got last month.
Three hours later no adapter. Ummm
Go to bed.
6 am I come awake and a voice says check your work bag. Yep there’s the adapter.
Screwed it on tonight and inserted a Carlson Long Beard choke.

Now to check the pattern.

Well maybe.

I can call them in. But they come with force field. Just can’t hit them.
KSG a little easier to get on target.
If nothing else it will be good for meet and greet. :chuckle:

Wow

That's does it I am buying another tag. I never do. My buddy did two years ago and killed two with one shot.

But for the past two weeks I have had the feeling I should buy the 2nd tag. And now the SPkid says it.

Buying it tonight.

I ate tag soup for years. The one time I only bought a single tag I had the oppurtunity to take a double. Never again I said. I've shot a KSG before. If you get two toms in front of you you'll probably go seal team six on them. I know I would. I hunt the fall too, so the tag carries over. If you are heading out for spring only then you could get by with one tag and a large amount of restraint. For me after a seven hour drive to get to the NE, even if I don't fill the tag not having it could hurt more.
