Suggested tick repellent for large dog
« on: May 10, 2019, 09:01:22 AM »
Any of you guys have a brand that you like and is safe for lab sized dogs? Picked 8 off my dog last night after a 45 minute romp in the yard. Gotta do something!

I use the Frontline Plus which can be found at the pet store/online or Costco carries it in the dog section for significantly less.... haven't picked a tick off my dog yet....

Were you looking for a pill or droplets? Vets can give you a pill that is suppose to work real good but no experience.

I use to use frontline and never had a flea problem. Last year could not get rid of them. Finally went to the vet. She said frontline list it’s patent and several other makers were using the recipe. Fleas have gone immune to whatever they were using and frontline is now useless for fleas. She gave them a chewable cookie and no issue since then. No more frontline for me.

Exact same thing my vet said and the new chewable works wonders. Havent seen any fleas or ticks on my 2 labs the past 2 years

Trifexis

 :yeah:

Ticks are horrible here, since we started using Trifexis, we have not seen a flea or Tick.

My dogs have been on Trifexis for years.  Works great on fleas, but I don't believe it kills ticks..

Prevents heartworm, kills fleas and prevents infestations, treats and controls intestinal worms.

I switched to soresto collar last year.

Prefer it to to chewable. Lasts 6 to 8 months. A bit less if in water often
