Drew the Tucannon muzzleloader deer permit 9/28-10/6
« on: June 18, 2019, 05:48:05 PM »
Got lucky this year and drew the muzzleloader permit in the Tucannon in late September with only 9 other folks. Looking forward to spending some time in that country in September deer hunting. I've spent a fair amount of time down there and have a good idea where I'm going to start, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone draw this tag post anything on here. Anyone?
Really looking forward to this hunt. Weather is always my nemesis and I'm fairly confident I'll be ok that time of year. Hoping to be able to find a solid 4x4 buck like I got in 2010 on my late hunt, but I think I'll be real lucky if that happens again.

I had that tag several years ago, I think the first year it was out. Only spent one three day weekend though. I saw one decent 4x4 on the side of Huckleberry. I saw a lot more deer activity below Alder Thicket.

If you need a companion, hit me up. As long as my boy isn’t playing football I’d love to come down.

You sure seem to do pretty well in the tag draws. Seems the system can't be too terrible  :chuckle: good luck to you, I don't have any experience to offer but I hope you'll keep us updated on your scouting and hunt.

I’ve drawn a deer tag in 2010, 2014 and 2019 and my goat tag in 2017.
I don’t ever complain about the draw system. I feel terrible for the guys with 23 points and no elk permit, but I’ve also never drawn an elk tag either. I don’t apply for what I call top tier tags.  I have fun and seem to fare pretty well in the end. I’m stoked.

Good luck Josh, I'm sure you'll do that tag justice.  I have no info for that area, nwhunter might though, maybe send him a pm. I'm pretty sure he will be in there before you this year.

I’ve been for 3-4 years now. Drew with 5. It’s a buck category hunt. We’ll see how it goes.

Goodluck I had the same tag for the Dayton unit last year. I scouted it for 2 days but only found small bucks and does. So I decided to hunt the general instead. There is definitely some potential for a nice buck in there good luck.
