Is that really all it takes?
I just completed the "course" and printed the certificate. All I need to do is go to a store and tell them I completed this course?

According to the video, when purchashing a firearm you have to sign a statement that you have taken a course, and technically are not required to show the certificate, though I see no harm in doing so. Whether this will end up working in practice remains to be seen.

I haven't put any effort yet into verifying whether these folks are indeed approved by the state of WA for this. I need to figure out how to check that.

This may have been posted on here elsewhere, but a friend just sent me this link for free I1639 training. I like how they poke holes in the law during the training, and the comments on the certificate are pretty funny.

Ditto- just did mine. Printed it out.  However, I will never put it to use.
Pains me to say after trolling the stores I didn't see anything that wouldn't duplicate what I already have.

The prerequisites are in writing - these Sporting Systems folks are the main players who battled 1639 in court and no doubt put more skin in the game with lawyers time and $$$$ than others.
They are a well vetted outfit.  The level of learning is an individual choice & will be offered at many good establishments.

Sad that after bending so many ears there are a lot who just didn't get what 1639 was all about.  And worse, there are many uninformed gun owners that voted for it thinking it wouldn't effect "THEM".   :bash:

I'll send donations as usual & plan for the worst, hope for the best.

Been a month, have sales of semi autos dropped or are people doing these classes and wait periods?  Anyone in the know?

Store fronts are still making sales, and there has been a decline in the semi auto market particularly. However, I’ve only transferred three firearms to one customer in two months. Most people have spent their money on acquiring items prior to July 1st and it’s really cut into my refinishing business.

When someone doesn't comply and gets arrested, for you know it will happen, don't say oh well he broke the law and deserves it! :twocents:
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Awesome that link for the certification and wish someone would actually put it to practice.
I did watch that full history on the second amendment though and was pretty funny and informative.
Things that not even I knew and I consider myself a novice expert in what the second amendment means. :chuckle:
