Interesting article on gun rights and laws
« on: August 21, 2019, 05:12:22 PM »
I rarely, if ever, engage in on-line “debate or discussion” on contentious issues. I know nobody’s mind is getting changed and frankly, my opinion really isn’t that important (in a forum setting that is😁).

But I thought some of you might find this interesting as I did.
I think you’ll need to copy paste the link though.

I Was an NRA Lobbyist. Here’s My Road Map for Gun Reform.
There is a way to debate this issue that will actually get meaningful laws enacted that both sides can agree on.

Ya he nailed it......antis refuse middle ground, its their way is the only way, and the whole assault weapon thing is disgusting and they play it hard.  They dont just want bad guys or to keep weapons out of the hands of those who shouldnt have them...they want and believe they can force a complete ban and confiscation.

When its time for us to stand up for what we believe in, they will start shakin........

Thanks. I never knew President Reagan was left-handed. Not sure that I agree with some things the author presents but I agree with his part about stopping illegal stolen gun sales to dealers. I was unaware that there is not an forced automatic system check on any firearm presented to a dealer to purchase. Hard to believe that there isn't. How hard is it to punch in a serial number into a database?

When you realize that it is not about crime prevention, but about control, that crime is the tool to achieve control, then you no longer wonder why we don't have common sense measures that empower non-governmental individuals and entities to help solve this and other problems.

Also, how many of these mass shootings could have been prevented by enforcing existing laws strictly.  The Parkland shooter is likely one.  The Dayton shooter is likely another.

The source of a lot of their (media/politicians) numbers needs to be exposed as they are using body counts from cities like Chicago to paint a dramitic picture of sheer numbers of shootings, but they dont include any details about those numbers.  Gangs are the single biggest problem contributing to mass shootings.

Neither do they admitt cities with the strictest gun laws often times have the biggest problems with shootings.

Suzanne Venker’s recent opinion piece on FoxNews is very, very important, because she points out that almost all of the most recent deadly mass shooters have one thing in common: fatherlessness.
