Elk camp beer

Ok I am not a big beer drinker.  In fact, I take a 12 pack to elk camp each year for a 8-10 hunt and usually bring a few home.  That is it for me for the year.  I usually get Widmer Hefeweizen, but thought trying something in a can.  I can smash them and not have as much garbage.  Is there something similar taste that they carry at Safeway?  Funny enough, I had an ice ice cold keystone light one day that someone gave me at camp after a long hot hike and it was really good.  So any good ideas of what I should pick up?

I couldn't argue with the hunter orange Busch Light cans.

There are a few decent beers in cans these days, I can't think of the one but is has purple writing I think and isn't cheap.  I don't remember seeing a hefe in a can, but you can get a decent pils or IPA.  Bartell has Session IPA in a blue can on perpetual sale for $6.99 and is a very solid beer in my opinion.  They also have a red can version that I don't care for, can't remember what variety it is.  Lagunitas also makes several great beers in cans, but they are all hoppy.

I can be a fairly snobby beer drinker, but after a long day of hunting I'm perfectly happy with a cold, cheap beer.  Coors light or Busch Light.

Now that I think about it I have had Tecate before and that was decent.  But that is about all my beer knowledge.  Not sure what an IPA is but I dont want anything fruity.

Nothing better after a hot day in the field or on the trail than a bullet.

If we're packing elk, we stage a few in the creek about a mile from camp - just the thought of that cold beer is enough to get me down the trail to that point, then the beer gets me the rest of the way to camp...

I'm big on IPA's Sierra Nevada has a goo one in cans among others. They are not fruity but are hoppy. Try one before you go, you may not like the taste. All in all, stick with ice cold PBR you wont go wrong.

I'll probably get flamed big-time for this, but I'm pretty sure that nowhere on a Coors Light can will you find the word "Beer"........that should tell you something.  At least on a regular Coors (Banquet) can the word "Beer" is present............

I usually stick with coors or the Idaho state wildflower (keystone light).
