Changing Gears
« on: September 30, 2019, 06:44:46 PM »
Well I think it is finally happening, getting rid of the sled and into an old man boat as we used to call them! Found a good deal on an older windshield boat, hopefully picking it up tomorrow or Wednesday. Will make Kokanee and cutthroat fishing a bit more comfortable, and be able to drop crab pots and fish the salt a little safer than in the open Flat Bottom.

Picking it up tomorrow, have had lots going on at home so haven’t made it to do the paperwork yet. Going to strip some stuff off of it when it’s gets home and maybe take it for a spin on Stevens in the evening. If everything goes smoothly might make a crab run Sunday! I will be offloading a bow mount trolling motor and a couple downriggers to start if anyone is interested! Need to start funding new electronics as the first purchase.

Well got a bunch of stuff stripped out of it last night, enough to be able to take it out for a test run on the lake today. Pretty thrilled with the way it runs, motor is pretty quiet for a 2 stroke which is always a plus. Jumps out of the hole and on step in no time and cruises at a comfortable rpm to about 20-25 mph. Got it back home and started in on stripping more outdated stuff off of it, sonar from the 80’s, broken compass, CB from the 80’s along with antennas and a ton of wiring. New electronics will be next in a week or 2 hopefully. The amount of holes in this thing makes me realize more and more that some people just shouldn’t do things themselves! No adhesive or silicone, all a mix of stainless and a few rusted zinc plated screws. Dash is going to need a diamond plate cover to hide the random holes from buttons and switches, cigarette lighter and scres
