New purchases tonight for the wife and I
« on: November 02, 2019, 10:23:51 PM »
She went with the Henry big boy 357 and I went with the Henry big boy 45 colt. Can’t wait to go out tomorrow and shoot them. Really really want to shoot a watermelon :chuckle: anyone else shooting lever actions?? Let’s see them

Dont have pics handy, but i love lever guns.  My first deer i took with a blr .270.  I currently have 2 winchester model 88s a 1956 and a 1966 mfg.  Also a 1949 marlin 336sc .30-30 and a remlin 1894 .357.  As soon as they become available im getting a remlin 1895 dark .45-70.  I already have a rpp synthetic stock set for it, and ill be cerakoting it and putting a suppressor on it.  Should be the last bear rifle ill ever need.  One of these days im going to get a .22 lever action for plinkin fun.

I really like how the shorties look.  I have three lever guns, a Win 9422 and two Win 94 Trapper models, one is in 357 and the other is 44mag but I have to be honest, they're tucked so far back in my safe they haven't seen the light of day in years.

I’ve got a marlin 1895 45-70, kind of a fun toy but I’ve kind of lost interest in it over the years(it, and a bunch of reloading supplies for it have been in the classifieds for months...). Thought about trading it in on an 1894 in .45 colt to pair with my revolver, till I saw that Remington started laser etching the receivers with those “QR code” looking things, yuck!

On the other hand, I’m a huge savage 99 fan these days, and do most of my big game hunting with them, so much that I feel sort of awkward packing a bolt action now. I have them in .250 and .300 savage, and feel that there aren’t many practical hunting situations in this state that they wouldn’t cover. Sure wouldn’t mind coming across one in .358 win just to round out my little collection, though.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Since we all love pics...here's my 1895GS Guide Gun

Skinner rear Peep Sight, with Fiber Optic Fire Sight up front...

The 325 gr. LR should be sufficient for elk.

Attached is a picture of my 1895 GS for you Marlin 45-70 fans.  It has a WWG big loop lever and trigger and the sights are the XS ghost ring and post.

If I had about 5 more lever actions, that may be enough.
