Cougar or bobcat?
« on: November 09, 2019, 10:30:51 AM »
A friend captured this in northern Wisconsin and was wondering what this is. Initially I thought a bobcat but now I doubt myself.

Yep Bobcat, if it was a cougar, it's tail would be almost as long as the body and visible.

House cat  :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

lack of spots might make the cat a lynx. Definitely not a cougar.

Bob.  The white on the back of the ears is a tell.  The legs are way too thin and small for a lynx and the back is too level for the high rear end of a lynx.  A lot of bobcats don't show spots on their back and sides, may only show on belly and inside of legs.  Ditto that a cougar tail would look huge in this pose.
