It’s a lot of money, but if hunting is your primary activity/hobby it can be worth it. $2500 amortized over 25 years of hunting is $100 per year. If you go the less expensive route and buy a $500 binocular, will they last you 25 years? If not how many more pairs will you end up buying?
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

 :yeah:

And I've said it before, you could probably sell them for $1,000 too after 25 years!

The only real downside is if you let your wife go with you and borrow them.  It takes them about 10 seconds to figure out they like your binos better than theirs.   You then eith share the same binos, or you are out another 2k.  :)

Yep been there, but the upside to that is you end up with a backup pair when needed :chuckle:

If your wife is anything like mine then it’s a worthwhile investment, she has outglassed me on more than one occasion

The difference between the SLC and the EL is overall negligible in my mind. Both are top of the heap along with leica and zeiss. I preffered the edge to edge clarity and the way they held while glassing So I bought EL. Money is an object for me, and yes I could have saved money and got the SLC, but had the funds budgeted for EL I didnt want to look back and think "what if".

That said, I have made do on leupy Cascades for ten years. I have chosen to upgrade other gear, or buy out of state tags rather than upgrade the binos. So the jump was huge, I spent more time glassing this season and the enjoyment out of glassing was out of this world no comparison. If I had upgraded sooner to a less expensive pair  the struggle over the extra grand would have been tougher Im sure. But to me I had saved for the EL budget and going into testing with the money not an issue really helped me to objectivley look through all the upper end stuff. All are truly great If I owned SLC I would not buy EL, not owning any good binos made the decision easy for me.

Hunted is past tense.

Ahh yeah? What’s your point or are you just trolling? I hunted a lot with Phool before I purchased Swaro’s   :dunno:

What model did you end up Buying?  Did you find a decent deal? I am currently going through the same process and looking at both options.
