Oh my! Great bull. I thought I had a good chance of drawing that last season. Hopefully I’ll have a crew like that to pack when I do. Nice video.👍

I think your draw odds just got a little worse! Instead of 0.32% chance of drawing, you're probably more like 0.29% chance of drawing.  :chuckle:

Paul Ellis of Ellis Hunting Ranch killed this Wenaha bull in the Oregon unit. Takes at least 23 resident points. Pretty much not available to out of state guys. Much like the other two trophy Oregon units. Oregon sucks for out of state hunters. I wish Wa would give 90% tags to residents and only 10% to out of state guys.
Anyways this bull was killed late in the day and cold weather. They had to leave the bull and get out because they were not prepared to stay the night on the mountain.  A ton of friends were ready on call to help and they headed out once Paul called them that night. Really an awesome hunt done the right way. No issue leaving the bull over night it was gutted and very cold in October at 3700 feet.  I have hunted with Paul many times and he has helped so many hunters live their dreams and like so many great guides they rarely hunt for themselves.

Great bull, congrats to your friend.

Not sure where you are going with Washington limiting non-residents to 10% of tags?  WA is the least non-resident friendly state in the West.  The way they make non-residents front the whole fee just to apply and then our pyramid scheme squaring of points scares almost all non- residents away.  Washington State hunting has a ton of problems, but non-residents aren’t one of them.

I have one or two years before I’ll have the time to do it right. I tried with 21 points last year and could have made it happen with the rifle tag. Oregon’s draw system is competing with Washington’s. It will be an OIL. You did it justice.
