Idaho turkey hunting
« on: February 24, 2020, 12:42:44 PM »
Pay resident fee in Idaho due to being disabled vet. Any one hunt over there was thinking of maybe trying over there since I will be over that way after my hunt over by chewelah is done.

Are you looking for a hunting partner or suggestions on how to hunt?

Lots of folks here hunt Idaho. Its as easy if not easier than the NE of this state. There is actually more birds on public land in my opinion and less pressure. I hunted it last weekend of April last year and didn't see another hunter.... was also only hunting for half a day before I had my quota so there is that too. Friend and his friend had similar results... four birds in 1.5 days having never hunted there before. They were there the weekend prior. Similar remarks on pressure.

In my opinion if a person is making the trip to NE Washington to hunt turkeys, or likes hunting turkeys. It cost very little to hunt ID as a non-resident and they should if they limit early in WA.

I think he is looking for locations to hunt.  Looks like he is already a turkey hunter and a disabled vet.  To the OP I am also looking into that to.  Also a vet.

Highway 95 from Canada to Boise holds birds. Find public land and you will find birds. Highest public land/bird ratio is the panhandle. Highway 2 is also a good corridor to hunt from. Get on a side road that takes you into public land on either and you will be on birds.

I posted a land of milk and honey thread I think it was last year. I'm planning on pulling the trigger this year and head over to the pan handle for some Idaho birds with my son in the fall. Hoping to glean some good spots from this thread.

Sorry every one have a lot going on in my life right now as far as health issues. Hunting just being in the woods soothes the soul for me! Yep I was looking for info on some spots to try and camp areas. 35.75 to hunt including turkey tag dang it’s cheaper than I pay here in Washington and I get a discount here.  :bash:looks like the panhandle area would be a good area to try. Thanks

How do you find public land? Onxmaps? I've already got WA, just debating whether to buy another state or just go all in and get the 50 states.

I've tried searching the Idaho DF&G site but no luck.

I'm looking at the Panhandle region closer to Spokane if possible.

I'm also looking at the Coeur d’Alene River WMA.

wildlife biologists are helpful, not going to get exact areas but they will tell you were populations are strong. look by region. run and gun with calls works.. quiet car, slam a door and listen!
