So I have a question about wild turkeys since I’ve never lived around them.

Last fall while hunting I was wait for my partner to come back to the truck from his walk, and I was watching an area and happen to turn around to see a small flock come down a ridge cross the road heading my way. That is until I moved and they saw me, they turned down a draw and ran like lightning.

What did that one you took a pic of do when you drive down your driveway, are the ones around peoples home less scared of humans, or are they less sensitive in the rut?🤔

Usually they run if I slow down. But one of the ranchers lands I hunt he’s ran em over with his tractor, so it’s a toss up. Some places they’re super flighty and others they’re dumber than a goldfish.


And last year I made my turkey into the breakfast sausage from the meat eater cookbook and I’m definitely doing that again. Though the neighbor is gonna kill that guy if they go scratch around her garden area anymore. Watching an 80 year old lady throw a shovel like a spear at a turkey from 20 yards is pretty impressive.

Mine are closer to goldfish, but I haven't been shooting them either.

But Im worried about the garden too, I might fence my britts in the garden, but Im think about hetting a little terrier dog and teach it to chase turkeys and quail?  Dunno

I think it all depends on pressure. Most turkeys I’ve ever hunted are antsy and don’t stick around. Saw these yesterday and they couldn’t care less we were there. Two days prior I got out of the truck and heard some clucking and started calling with my voice. They came right In. Looked right at me and kept gobbling. As I’ve always said. They are the smartest bumbest bird out there.
