Cory, It sounds to me like you're still upset about your speeding ticket three months ago. It's okay, I don't think any of us will judge you for that. It's not as bad as poaching a turkey.
Can we back up to Claude Dallas being a Western Hero???
Is a turkey going to get you enough Bonus points so you'll be able to draw a special tag?
I wouldn't call speculating about the people who illegally killed a turkey and posted about it on social media "attacking every aspect of a person's life," because for one, the people aren't on this forum and aren't seeing the comments. As someone else already pointed out, the comments would be much worse anywhere else. Put this story in a Seattle newspaper and they'd be asking for the death penalty for the kid and the parents.

That said, does that justify it here? Am I wrong to think it's wrong to act this way? Are we not meant to hold ourselves to a higher standard than those emotional left wing PETA folks that do exactly what others on this thread have done? That is what I am questioning.

The kid is going to get a slap on the wrist and life will go on. He killed it to eat and turkeys are a dime a dozen, not exactly the crime of the century but worth reporting to hopefully (maybe) teach a lesson First a turkey then it's an elk or a bear or a deer or etc. Doesn't matter if their a dime a dozen.Which is why I said hopefully it will teach him a lesson, as in he will hopefully stop before it escalates.

I have participated in a few of those over the years and they get really heated. Can you tell we are all isolated and not hunting or fishing? I fully understand some folks would not report this violation. I'm fine with that. I'm not going to tell you that you MUST report it. Would you report a deer, elk, moose, maybe a caribou? Sure turkeys are a dime a dozen and a nuisance in many areas. Maybe we should no longer have a season, bag limits etc...but we do. Would I call in other crimes that I witness, sure, I'm a retired cop, it's second nature. I imagine all of us have a level of criminal activity that we would report, just human nature. I feel like wanton game violations are something I will report if I have enough information. You don't feel the same, no problem, I respect that.I also agree with Cory, some of the comments are over the top, but this is a campfire community and guys like to express opinions.
