I've been looking into the Ruger 9mm models because they are offered in stainless and have a nice price, in particular the SR9(about $450) and the P95 (about $380).  I guess my question would be to help narrow down choices for a reliable hi-cap semi-auto 9mm in stainless less than $500?

I agree. Another pistol to look at is the Steyr M9. CDNN has them for $399 right now. I got to shoot one and it is just an astounding handgun. The trigger beats the Ruger's hands down.

Ruger does have a warranty, just not written. Just read that this morning because I was checking out some info on one of their single sixes. Something to do with the laws. They do not put a warranty card in with the gun because it has been deemed "useless". My word.
Never, ever let Creed hold you baby, it will ruin it and you will have to get another.

I know I've never thought much of the Ruger P89's. Not sure if their pistols have improved at all.  The guys I work with that own Steyrs just rave about them.  Great price, super comfortable, and I guess they're accurate as hell!  Sounds crazy but one of the guys is currently selling his kimber sub compact, a beautiful gun. Cause he can buy two or maybe even three Steyrs for the same price.  He love em!
