In the printed 2019 hunting regs, wdfw screwed up and said you need a 2019 cougar license to hunt cougar in april 2020. This was a mistake, and they corrected it in the online download correction section. This seems to have caused some confusion, so i thought id clear things up to help people avoid any hassle. The license season for all hunting is april 1st - march 31st, and cougar is no exception. Your 2019 cougar tag was good jan 1st - march 31st 2020, but to hunt cougar from april 1st - april 30th 2020 you need your 2020 cougar tag. If you filled your 2019 cougar tag, now that it is april youre green lighted to hunt cougar with a 2020 tag.
It seems quite a few people are still basing their understanding of the rules off of the mistake in the printed regs pamphlet, and understandably so. Below is a screenshot of the downloadable correction from wdfw.
