« on: April 09, 2009, 07:57:28 PM »
Nuthing better than a good bugle then the estrus cow call....

I use the Rocky Jacobson at the moment....can't put the copenhagen away long enough for a diaphram.

Which bugle so you use?...convince me to change

This video gets me going...

TEAM PRIMOS BABY!!  :chuckle: SO you can sound just like every other swingin.......well you know the rest  :chuckle: Oh , and dont forget the good Ole Hoochie mamma  ;) Make sure your squeezing that little *censored* every step of the way  :bash: Oh man , I cant wait foe the rut .  I use Rockys tube and also Elknuts tube, both are great but I also use reeds. Elknuts tube is lighter and tuned to get rid of that plastic sound, works great.

Primos pack bugle, terminator.  Hoochie momma is always used and the HOT LIPS isn't too shabby either.  Like the pack bugle the best though.

+1. I live in town, but not far from the tree farm, and last fall I was bugling in my driveway and getting answers from a field next to the timber. I was using Primos Terminator.

I use Rockie's calls only!   He has made some great products in the past and probably some of the most realistic sounding calls on the market. For 2009 he has come out with some new cow calls and bugles as well.  They sound great and once again are very easy to use.  Keep an eye out for the signature series calls.

old school abe and sons.   One of the best Indian poachers I know uses a piece of PVC pipe and diaphram.  He rates right up there with Elknut1 and his calling.

I use a Primos Terminator.  I use both the blue reed and the sonic dome to bugle with.  I use the blue reed to locate and the mouth calls when I'm closer.

Bugles are fine and dandy but it's alot easier to bring bulls in with cow calls.  I just got a Primos IMAKABULLCRAZY and it's awsome I can't wait to use it (replaced the Cowgirl).  I also use the primos mouth calls and the hyperlip single.  And of course to supplement those calls I use the hoochi-mamma which works really well if you use it as a supplementary call to your mouth calls like it was designed for.  Gives you the ability to sound like two elk at the same time.

Hell yeah TEAM PRIMOS BABY :chuckle:

I have purchased about every call I could get my hands on over the years and my fav is an origanal persuader before Jones started making his version. The last 15yr you could find used ones around costing 50-200 dollars and last year Jones was bought out and they had some originals in the shop so they sent them to Bi Mart if you find one you should buy them they are collectors items in my book. They have a wood inter piece and take a clear reed like primos blue reed. I cant say enough about the call once you learn how to use it the call will make any sound you want from bull to cow and sound good. In cow calls I pack about three mostly primos but I like sceery hyper cow in heat and another one called sleazy cow, I also have a hoochie mama on my belt loop. It usually doesn't mater on cow calls if you don't know how to use them so my suggestion is to find one or two cow calls that you can make the sound that you want consistently and stick with it when in the field. For people learning primos is the best I use the pack bugle when I am in the back country. (The old persuader's don't have a cover for the end)

Bone if you know an Indian Poacher did you turn him in?  Is he a poacher because he is Indian or is he breaking the law?

I also use the Rocky call, ( Bugling bull game calls ). I have hunted with three other hunters over the last five years who had their fave call and every year I would let them call away first in lots of areas. One blow about 15 minutes after they were done and I would get responses after all was quiet with the other calls. One note : None of us were pro callers and all had the same calling skills. I like the bugling bull calls, Bull & Cow calls & will stick with them.

Why do so many people bash on primos calls? Whats the deal?

I don't know why people always bash on them.  I think they are great.  THey have worked just fine for me.  I think one reason is because they are so easy to use now everyone has them and about half of those people don't know the appropriate time to use them.  I know I've heard guys bugling like crazy during the modern rifle season when I take my wife out.

I think the thing that people also hate most is the Primos hoochie-mamma call since anyone can use it and people do. I have also heard people just squeeking away at those things during the archery and ML seasons.  So basically people rip on them because alot of people have them and alot of those people use them wrong and mess things up for those that do know how to properly use them.

Note.  The hoochie mamma is awsome, if you use it how it was meant to be used.  Which is as a supplementary call to a mouth or reed style call so  you sound like two different elk.
