Remington 700 BDL .270, What's it worth? Updated
« on: May 03, 2020, 10:24:08 AM »
For some reason I could get photos to attach to my original post. I am looking to assess the value of this rifle, and what a good starting price to sell it would be. Remington 700 BDL .270. It is an older gun, I believe atleast the 90s, possibly older than that.

Older is better when it comes to Remington 700s, in my opinion. Looks to be in pretty decent shape. Just a guess but I'd say $500. I wouldn't sell for less than $400.

You can run the serial number and find out how old. I' m guessing 70's. Nice gun.

Correct.  When you see a Rem 700 that is tapped and threaded, on the left side of the receiver, for peep sights, it's always an older one.

That is an older 700 I’d guess 60’s/early 70’s. Not sure the value but you have an excellent rifle/caliber there or a blank canvas too build from.

i'd buy a new one if i was going to chop it up for parts for a build...those old 700s were pretty nice rifles as-is.

By the checkering on that one i'd say it was made in the late 60s - early 70s.  The oldest ones had stamped fleur-de-lis checkering, they went to the style yours is later on.

value-wise, 700s are a dime a dozen, so typically anywhere from 350-600, yours is probably worth more toward the higher end since it looks to be in really nice shape, in a well liked chambering.

Thanks for all the follow up guys. All of the input has definitely helped me figure out what I have. Not to bad of a find. I picked it up from an old co worker who was moving out of town and looking to get rid of it. He described it to me as an old Remington .270 with surface rust. And what he wanted to sell it for I almost felt guilty to not buy it. It had cleaned up no problem into the condition you see it in now.

 :yeah:

I wouldn't do a dang thing to it but add a brass buckle adjustable leather sling to it, grab your favorite pair of Levi's and red plaid flannel, and hunt.

Classic piece of Americana right there.
