Radical makes a nice priced and good shooting upper. I have sold 1/2dz over the years all seem to do great.

I just bought a premium 556 build kit from Mid State Firearms.

https://midstatefirearms.com/main.sc

They had lightning fast shipping and reasonably priced. So far the build seems to be decent quality and I was able to upgrade parts as I desired. Shoots great.

I prefer to assemble my own, so I can't say who's complete upper you should choose. I can say this though - for the Grendel, it's worth buying a really good barrel. This is a cartridge that works well at extended ranges partly because of it's accuracy potential and ease of shooting it well, so it pays off to use a good barrel that can take advantage of that.

I also really recommend NOT buying a Bear Creek Arsenal upper, unless your goal is to end up with something that shoots poorly or mediocre at best, and might be reliable some of the time.

Thanks for the Barrel tip! There are so many options out there, it is hard to break them all down piece part to compare.

I'm have good luck with a Grendel Hunter 20" upper. Reasonable shipping when I bought it a year ago.  Always functions without issue. I'm looking forward to working up loads for it and see what the potential is for this caliber..

You are right, it's difficult to know who's parts are in each upper. Generally though, if a company uses a really good barrel, they will advertise that rather than just posting some basic specs like barrel length and twist rate. There are quite a few good barrel names out there though; it'd probably be easier to have you post links of a few you're considering and let us look at them.
