Early april to early may movement

Hopefully headed out the 5th or 6th for a quick hunt.  Heard a flock near our campsite in early april.  I was planning on starting there.  Should i expect them to have moved much?

depends on if they got bumped out of there. In my experience (private land) they tend to roost in the same trees every year. So if there has been not that much human traffic in the area Id bet they are close by. Lots of hens will be nesting in the near future, you wont see the large flocks like you will see in mid April.  thats my  with my limited experience.

Probably the majority of the flocks move from where they were the first part of April. Some flocks break up and move quite aways, some not very far and some not at all.  Really only one way to find out and that's go back and check. Not all birds roost in the same tree every night either. Some of the birds around my place are in a roost one night and gone the next only to show back up a couple days later. Seems like some just wander and kinda roost where ever darkness finds them.

Normal season yes they will mive around.  If it is a spring time flock they would stay in the general area.  Most hens will be bred by the time we can get out there.  I will say this that this spring I think is going to be way different then anyone has experienced in May turkey hunting.  These birds have not been pressured at all so what they might be doing could be an unknown.

Sunday April 26th I took my dog for a run in the hills above Spokane.  We saw a Hen that was already on her nest, seemed a little early.  Also the green up around her is in full force.

No you shouldn't expect much movement

In my experience it’s hunting that moves turkeys. If they haven’t been hunted they should be within 5 ‘miles or so.

At least 75% of the birds that were around my place the 1st of April have moved. Suspect some not to far, but some quite a ways. Has a lot to do with locals out discing and planting fields, flocks just scattering out, and new areas greening up offering new feeding areas. Some birds stay around all year, but most move on. Haven't seen anybody out hunting them yet

What time is the best to hear them talking?

If I go up to where I think they are and call will they answer in there roost

Fornone thing you don't want to do heavy calling while they are in the roost.  If you git in the night before and do some shock calling they will most likely respond.  If you hunting in a place that isn't farm land the turkeys will not be far from where yiu heard them last time you were out.
